6 days agoIt's almost that time again! Fourteen sleeps to go...
4 months agoCamp NaNo write-in - today and every Sunday this month!
Come along whether you're writing, editing or maybe even doing some planning ready for November :)
4 months agoCamp NaNoWriMo is back in July :)
I finished the first draft of one of my novels... So now it's time to rewrite it better!
I'll be back in the Brewhouse & Kitchen at least once a week through July, and if anyone wants to join me for writing or editing (or just a pint!) it would be lovely to see you all.
Dates will go in the calendar below soon.
11 months agoIt's all over... Well done everyone and we'll meet again in eleven moths time. Or at the TGIO party! See the thread below.
11 months agoIt's The End! One last write-in - I'll be there a little after 12 and writing until about 7pm, at which point I will probably just sit in the pub, with a pint, watching the wordcount figures - come and join me!
11 months agoTwo days left! Keep writing, and come and join me at the pub for the last two days :)
11 months agoThe last Sunday of the month, a chance to really push on towards the finish line! Write-in from noon :)
11 months agoTime to get competitive!
11 months agoThe last Saturday, and the big push towards the finishing line begins here. Write-ins at the pub every day, from noon until at least 9pm, from today until the thirtieth.
11 months agoThe last Thursday of the month... Time to really push forward. Write-in from 6pm :)
11 months agoTuesday write-in - 6pm
11 months agoSunday again - write-in from noon :)
11 months agoIt's Thursday - I should be at the pub by 6pm for the write-in.
12 months agoSunday again, so it's another all day session in the B&K - hope to see you there from noon!
12 months agoIt's Sunday! We'll be writing from noon in Chester. Come and join us - this is your chance to catch up or to really power ahead with your word count :)
12 months agoIt's here! Get writing everyone, and I'll see you in the forum, at write-ins and at the finish line!
Write-in today from 12noon :)
12 months agoMeet & Greet session today from 3pm at the Brewhouse & Kitchen pub - hope to see you there!
12 months agoMeet & Greet session before NaNo starts! This Sunday (30th October) from 3pm at the Brewhouse and Kitchen on Love Street, Chester. See the thread below for more details.
Don't forget to change your clocks in the morning!
about 1 year agoIt's almost time, everyone! Things are starting to get busy here. Before we get to November, why not say hello in the introductions thread and start getting to know the other people who are going to spend November wearing their fingertips out on the keyboard?
The calendar below will be getting filled up over the weekend, so keep an eye open for when we'll be meeting up.
over 1 year agoAre you doing CampNaNoWriMo in April? Some of us will be - if you want to talk to people nearby as well as making friends in your cabins, you can come and look at our new facebook page: Search for Chester Wrimos NaNo Writers.
Or use the clicky link in the thread below!
almost 2 years agoAnd, we're done. All over (officially) for another 11 months. But you can keep popping into the forum - we hope to sustain the momentum and keep going on those unfinished stories and polishing up any that have been completed
Well done everyone - Chester region has done exceptionally well (I'm playing with spreadsheets and statistics at the moment!) and will share some of the excitement once the rest of the world reaches December :)

almost 2 years agoMeet and Greet session at the Forest House this evening!
And then it's only two more sleeps until we can start writing (or only one if you're going to stay up for a midnight start)!
about 2 years agoNovember approaches - but before that, we'll be having our first (purely social) meet-up for 2015 on Friday 30th October. 6:30pm in the Forest House. More details in the thread below. See you soon!
about 2 years agoNew year, new shiny forum - welcome to Nanowrimo 2015!
Please introduce yourself, set up your profile page, fill in the info about your novel and get started with prep and planning (or not, if you're pantsing it).
There will be posts and emails with info as we get closer to the start of November, and the calendar will shortly be up so you can plot in your Write-ins and other events. See you soon!
over 2 years agoCamp Nanowrimo is upon us again! We have no plans for a joint cabin this year - too much pain, not enough gain - so feel free to choose your cabin mates freely and keep in touch with us here or live at The Forest House!
almost 3 years agoPlease note that the general pubbiness planned for today is now cancelled and will be rescheduled! Sorry about the last minute warning!
almost 3 years agoDon't forget our TGIO party tomorrow night, Saturday the sixth!
From five o'clock in The Forest House, our usual hangout, though we will be upstairs instead of downstairs this time. Search for us and ye shall find - Steve the Fan will be wearing his fez!
almost 3 years agoSomehow November has gone away and Nanowrimo 2014 is over. I don't like it but there is at least one thing left on our calendar: The TGIO - Thank God It's Over - Party! We will meet on Saturday at five in The Forest House, where all our other meet-ups and write-ins have been, so if you haven't been before, now is your chance. We'd love to see you and hear about your November!
Now usually we are downstairs, but that has been booked for a private function, so we - your MLs - will be there in good time and try to secure some tables upstairs somewhere. We will be easy to find as Steve the Fan will be wearing a green fez! (Yeah, not many of them in Wetherspoon on a Saturday.) If you don't feel like coming into the pub on your own, let us know and we'll agree on a time to come out and meet you. Let's celebrate these novels!
almost 3 years agoGO GO GO GO! Your novel needs you!
almost 3 years agoWidget time again! With one week to go (eeek!) this is how we are doing:
almost 3 years agoEngland specific widget this time as we don't want any others in the Top 25!
almost 3 years agoBy popular demand, a widget with China in it!
almost 3 years agoMore words to write, regions to beat ...
almost 3 years agoThis Region Word War widget shows how we are doing compared to some of our actual worst competitors for the top 25 spot last year. Nothing like a bit of healthy competition!
almost 3 years agoSo we are already coming up to Week Two, believe it or not, and there have been Shout-Outs and Write-Ins and word sprints - if you missed them, come join us this coming weekend! Other procrastination removers have been added to the forum too:
- To add your word count to the Region Scoreboard (aka the Guilt-O-meter), add a post to the forum thread to join in.
- To join our three-way Word War, look for the sign-up link in the relevant thread, and check your team's progress on the chart.
Shortcuts to both charts are in the Links box so they are easy to find. Good luck!
almost 3 years agoIT'S HERE!
Welcome to November everyone - I hope you got a good night's sleep and are rested and ready to get writing your 1,667 words for the day.
If you'd like some company, reassurance and peer pressure, join us at the Forest House for our first write-in of the month. I (Steve) will be there by noon. Just look for the green fez! I should be downstairs by the plug sockets.
Now stop reading this and start your novels!
almost 3 years agoONE MORE SLEEP! Make the most of it while you can. Or better yet - stay up til midnight and do an hour of writing! Nothing quite like getting off to a good start and waking up in Nanoland tomorrow with a four digit word count already ...
... and then why not come to the Write-in to add to it? Info on where to find us in the forum.
While you wait for midnight please check you've given your novel a title or your account won't be active. Also introduce yourself in the forum and sign into the Region Ranking Tool to give yourself an extra kick up the proverbial!
See you in November!
almost 3 years agoRight. Are you ready? Four sleeps til Nanowrimo - if you can sleep, that is. I hope you are prepared (as much as you can be, including being prepared for the unexpected) and geared up, raring to go. Our first Write-in this year will be on Saturday, November 1st, where we will start early-ish and carry on for as long as the Muse will allow! Come and join us, say hi, top up the jitters with coffee and cake, celebrate the beginning with a cold beverage after, or just stop in and say hi!
GOOD LUCK; NOVELS AND WRIMOS!
almost 3 years agoMEET & GREET - TODAY!
We'll be in the Forest House from 3pm until at least 8pm ,probably a bit later. Please come along if you can - you don't have to stay the whole time, just pop in for as long as you can or want. But it would be great to meet you all :)
We're expecting that we'll be in the 'Library', the little room to the left of the bar, but we might be forced out by non-writing people who seem to think that they're allowed to drink in OUR pub in November, But if we aren't there, come looking for us. You'll be able to find us by our green clothing - I'll be wearing my green fez and Linda will be in her dayglo green T-shirt. Trust me, it's not easy to miss us!
almost 3 years agoOne week to go until NaNo starts, but we're having our first meeting tomorrow - details in the "Meet & Greet" thread below.
Come and meet some of the other people who are going to be writing novels in November! Find out what our experiences have been like in the past, pick up a few tips on how to get through 50,000 words and share the excitement ( and nervousness?)
about 3 years agoThe site has been relaunched, which means that it's nearly November!
So it's time to get your writing hats out of the cupboard and start thinking about your novel. What's it going to be about, who's going to be the star, what twists and turns are you going to lead your readers along?
If you're looking for like-minded people to bounce ideas off, why not come along to our "Meet and Greet" session on Sunday 26th of October (the weekend before NaNoWriMo starts). We're friendly and helpful and here to support you on your way to 50,000 words. :)
Or if you can't make it to the meetings, make use of the forum - introduce yourself and start chatting withothers who have signed up to this challenge.
Good luck everyone!
about 3 years agoNot long to go now! The forum will be wiped clean in preparation for Nanowrimo 2014 any day now, so if there was something you wanted to save for later, please copy and paste it now - bookmarks won't work as the pages will cease to exist.
And then, ladies and gentlemen, wrimos and writers, we will be ready for another November of Novelly Madness!
over 3 years agoFancy getting on with your writing again? Well, February is Februawriting Month! This forum will probably be a bit quiet until the madness starts again in October, but fret not - come and join us for more writing, more Write-ins and events over on our brand new forum at chesterwrimos.freeforums.org - there is a link in the box on the right as well. See you there!
almost 4 years agoThat's it, it's over. For now. Chester region did really well, and 50 of our participating Wrimos are now Winners! Keep an eye on the regional calendar, as there are loads more events happening in the new year. Hope to see you then, and keep writing those novels!
almost 4 years agoThe Validator is now open for business - see forum post - and Chester region have beaten our 2012 record of 2.9 million words and have 23 winners so far! Congratulations!

about 4 years agoWe're up and running again: Welcome to Chester region and Nanowrimo 2013!
There are some new features and a new layout, so please come in, have a nose around the place and introduce yourself, post a question or check up on last year's buddies. See you soon!
about 4 years agoWe have seen the number of Chester Wrimos go up since November, hi all you new people! So I have plotted all the Write-Ins into the google calendar below already - no less than 3 socials and 17 (yes, seventeen!) Write-Ins! Put them into your diary, I'm sure you can manage a few in November if you start planning your novelly adventure in good time. And there is no time like the present!
almost 5 years agoThat's it. Nanowrimo 2012 is officially over. 121 writers have written 2.9 million words, we are #61 in the word count scoreboard with an average of 24K per person, 38 writers are Nano winners and got their certificate to prove it. Congratulations, you have all done so well!
However there is one more event left on our calendar, the TGIO tonight. Writing implements optional this time, but please come and say hi and have a drink or a meal or some cake and a chat about novelly things like twisting plots and unpredictable characters and editing plans. We meet up from six, come as you are and take us as you find us! The bar staff will know who we are if you're not sure.
almost 6 years agoThat's it. It's over. But we managed to write over 4 million words together, words that weren't there in October, and I think we should all give ourselves a round of applause and a nice treat!
After you have rested and caught up on your sleep and essential nutrients, re-established contact with friends and family and start getting used to reality again (boo!) you should come to the Thank God It's Over party in our usual haunt, The Forest House in Love Street, Chester - in the down stairs part - tomorrow, Dec 2nd, at six to celebrate and discuss our Nanowrimo novels, efforts and experiences. There'll be stickers and goodie bags!
Meet your MLs
Chester region is small, but perfectly formed for novel writing, so join us for creative, constructive and fun Write-ins in November - and beyond!
