Hello CK Wrimos!

My name is Susan. I am excited and a tiny bit terrified to be taking on the role of Municipal Liaison for our area. With some advice and guidance from Laura I am ready to jump in to the challenge!

A Chatham resident for the past 13 years, I have participated in Nanowrimo a number of times to varying degrees of word count success. Regardless of whether I reach that lofty 50 000 goal I have always enjoyed how Nanowrimo pushes me to spend time doing something I love, crafting a story, and that is always a win!

Right now I am learning the ropes and arranging events. As soon as I have things lined up I will be updating our calendar and sending out notifications. I am looking forward to getting to know you, a fellow local writer, over the next couple of months!

Farewell, CK Wrimos!

I (Laura) am moving out of the region in early 2018 and so will not be novelling with you next November. I've enjoyed the past 3 years as your ML and wish you all well in your future writing endeavours.

If any of you are considering taking on the ML mantle for the region and have questions about the region, working with our awesome CWI partner, and/or MLing in general, please don't hesitate to ask.

Write on, Wrimos!

Our final write-in of 2017 is this Wednesday, November 29, from 5-8 PM in the 2nd floor board room of the Chatham Public Library (120 Queen St.). This is not some noisy, crowded coffee shop. It's a great, quiet space with a large central conference table and adjustable office chairs which the library provides for our exclusive use on Wednesday evenings in November. As usual, we will run word sprints throughout the evening, using a Pomodoro timer, to ensure everyone who comes out can get lots of writing done. Hope to see you there!

See the "2017 Write-Ins" thread in our regional forum (below) for details if you're interested in joining me.

We're a week into October already and (though the weather may not seem like it some days) NaNoWriMo 2017 is almost here! Don't forget to set up a project for 2017 on your NaNo profile so you'll be marked as an active participant in our region this year. Then introduce yourself to us in the "2017 Participant Introductions" thread here in our Regional Forum.

Our region is fortunate once again this year to have a wonderful Come Write-In partner in the Chatham-Kent Public LIbrary. The Chatham library will once again be providing their 2nd floor board room to us for weekly write-ins during November as well as an information night and our Kick Off Party in October. See our Google Calendar below, or the relevant threads in our Regional Forum, for all the details.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in our word war with Hawkes Bay and East Coast this past weekend! Chatham-Kent was once again victorious, writing a total of 66,069 words over the course of 24 hours, for an average of 1654.81 words/writer.

Our collective weekend writing propelled us onto the Top 50 Regions map! As of Sunday morning, Chatham-Kent was ranked 25th in average words per writer worldwide! We may be a small region, but we are mighty! Keep up the great work everyone!

While it’s true that NaNo is all about November, what you do with October sets you up for success.

October to a lot of Nano’ers is Prep Month. Where we get all of our ideas sprouting, our plots plotted, our research done, and our mental pencils sharpened.

Some things to keep in mind:

We now have a home on the web. It's at

You have two MLs (Municipal Liaisons) in the Chatham Kent region. Danielle and Laura. We are here to help! You can contact us on the site regional forums, the Facebook group ckwrimos or by email

Remember to sign in and home yourself in the Canada::Ontario::Chatham-Kent group. If you have friends that are doing NaNo in other areas and don’t have a group of their own, they are more than welcome to house themselves with us!

On the subject of prep:

Visit the’s prep page. (also a good time to make sure you remember your login and check that you are homed in our area.)

There is a Pinterest board with links to articles and posts that are helpful in what to do when prepping for November and the 30 days of intense writing that’s coming closer every day. You can find it here:

Go to the site and make sure to update the Title, Synopsis and Cover for what you are working on this year.

Happy Prep!

NaNo prep season is upon us! Can you believe it?

For some, November may still seem like a distant dream. Others are already hard at work planning their NaNo projects. Others still are racing to finish up older projects, so we can clear our schedules to begin new work on November 1st. Wherever you are in your NaNo prep journey, please take a moment to say hello to your fellow CK Wrimos with a post in our 2016 Participant Introductions thread:

Danielle (Escapes) and I, along with our region's wonderful Come Write In partner, the Chatham-Kent Public Library, have been working to put together a great line-up of events and writing resources for this year's novelling adventure.

New this year, we have a NaNoWriMo Information & Prep Night on October 19th. This event will cover all the basics of NaNoWriMo as well as look at some resources and ideas for preparing for the month ahead. Also new this year, our region will have a blog. Danielle is in the process of getting that set up right now. Watch for the link in the next few days.

See below for our full calendar of events planned thus far and be sure to check the forum here, our facebook group, or your NaNoMail regularly for updates on new events still to be added. You can also receive news of our local events via your regular email account by selecting the "Regional news from my local NaNoWriMo groups" option on your email preferences page here:

Happy Halloween! Are you ready for the night of tricks and treats!

Want to hear something scary? NaNo starts tomorrow!!! *flails around screaming in panic*

Take today to hydrate, maybe do a few finger stretches and get your NaNo plan in place. Myself, I always aim for about 2500 words a day, just to give myself a buffer for the inevitable day that something goes sideways and I can't sit at my keyboard for as long as I like.

Don't panic about your word count. You're attempting this and that's a terrific thing to do! Let the words flow, don't edit yourself and push your limits! C-K Wrimos are the best and we're behind you 100%.

You got this Wrimos! Good Luck!

I've updated the write-ins calendar to add some dates in Blenheim. Those of you in the (not-so-sunny these days) south of our region (or anyone else who wants to join us) can come out to write in the Blenheim branch of the Public Library on Saturday afternoons between noon and 4 pm. Look for us in the little meeting room (to the right of the main entrance, as you're coming into the library).

NaNoWriMo 2015 is almost here!

We're kicking things off in Chatham-Kent this year with a Meet & Greet/Information Night on Monday, October 26th, from 6-8 p.m. at the Chatham branch of the Chatham-Kent Public Library.

Join us at the library to meet your fellow travellers in November's month-long novelling adventure, swap tall tales of NaNos past and discuss plans for this year's journey. We will be meeting in the magazine/café area at the front of the library.

Bring your friends! This event will be a great opportunity for people who are not yet sure what this NaNoWriMo business is all about to get some information and talk to veteran Wrimos with several years experience in the challenge. We will have calendars available with the Chatham-Kent Write-In schedule for November as well as a laptop with wifi for anyone who would like a walk-through of the NaNoWriMo website.

Hope to see you on the 26th!
