11 months agoTime to power up! NaNoWriMo 2017 is here masked and zooming in with its cape furling beautifully in the breeze. Are you up for the challenge? Are you up for a fight? Whether you stand for noveling justice and heroically battle your way to victory or hatch nefarious plots against time as a villain, we here at NaNoHK are with you! The pen is just as good as a sword, so take up your weapon and let's DO THIS.
almost 2 years agoThe warmest welcomes to all aboard the Starship NaNoHK! Are you ready for a journey of galactic proportions? Grab your laptops and enough freeze-dried HK milk tea to last lightyears, and prepare yourself for a meteor shower of words and writing this November 2016. To the stars and beyond!
almost 3 years agoGreetings, 2015! Welcome to the NaNoHK Library. It currently resides in the Dreaming, an overflowing wing with tales about love, adventure, identity, culture and wit. November 2015 is the time to fish them out of our fantasies and into reality! Hope everything is going well and see you at write-ins!
almost 4 years agoTerrific job, everyone! Who's still recuperating after all the struggles and stress...? This one, although not as fully as I like as the holiday season rears its tinsel-and-bauble clad head, meaning lots of other events happening, both social and work-related. Speaking of events, we've got our TGIO Party tomorrow at Causeway Bay Ruby Tuesday! I've got a table booked for 12 people, and I'm looking forward to it. Once again, great NaNoWriMo season everyone...see you in 2015!
almost 4 years agoWhoaaaaaaaaa, we're halfway there. Whoaaaa-OH! Livin' on a prayer!
Some of us, myself included, are truly living on prayers and [insert writing beverage of choice here] to keep up with the word count, but I am sure we can do it. Stay strong and add oil, Hong Kong...only two weeks left!
almost 4 years agoHong Kong, it's so good to see you again. With the forums wiped afresh and just barely two weeks to prep for November, I'm excited to the bone to be doing this with all of you a second time around.
Please look out for the dates and details for all sorts of events next month. As you wait (and as I scramble frantically) go ahead and post in the forums! Any musings, questions, and/or announcements are welcome here.
almost 5 years agoHello, dearest Hong Kong Wrimos! It's been two weeks since we all collapsed at the finish line at 12:00am December 1st. I hope you've all had a good rest since then (and if you haven't been able to, like me, then let us look longingly towards Christmas break!). Without further ado, here are the stats:
Altogether, we had 1,554,274 words total with 90 active homed-in members contributing to that number! That gives us a word average of 17,270 which really is NOTHING to just sneeze at. Give yourself a well-deserved pat on the back. Out of our 21 wonderful winners, we had an average WC of 52,155!! Hooray, winners!
Although 2013 is nearly at a close, please don't drift away from our region. We should still stick together for the editing process, finalizing our Word War with China (ah yes, the outcome was predictable but it was nice motivation!), Camp NaNoWriMo in April and July, or just plans to hang out! I'll certainly stick around here, but remember that we're also on Facebook! See you all in 2014.
almost 5 years agoAaaaaaaand we're off! Thanks to all the folks who came out to the Kick-Off Party on the 1st. For those who couldn't make it, there will be more write-ins later this month as well as some ONLINE write-ins!
That's right, if you're too busy or far away to leave home, we'll still get a chance to write together. Please look to your right and you'll find links to our Facebook Group as well as ChatNaNo region room! (Keep in mind that you'll have to register for ChatNaNo if you haven't before.)
Now, back to writing.
almost 5 years agoHey there, Hong Kongers! This is your friendly neighbourhood ML, webcomix. I'm very excited and honoured to be the first ML for our region and look forward to a ridiculous month of words and weariness with all of you.
Check in later this month for information about the Kick-Off party and weekly write-ins. For now, feel free to chat about writing, your novels, and everything else under the sun to form a great NaNoWriMo community in Hong Kong!
